September meeting

Our group--Terry , Theresa, Debra , Linda, Crystal and I met Thursday, September 24 at the Wine Cellar and were fortunate to land in the middle of the case sale with tons of free samples. Very nice to taste all kinds of wines while having a fun discussion about our reads. We may even take a "class trip" with the book club on the train to New York City. Linda would like to see the city since it's been years since she lived there and Gabby loves the city and is happy to show the book club around and have some fun! The club finally decided on Kay's (Wine Cellar employee) recommendation of reading Barbara Kingsolver's "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" because when Gabby saw most of the club members at the Sunrise Theater's showing of "Food Inc." she thought it'd be a good tie in with the film since the book is about Kingsolver's family's decision to spend a year ONLY eating food they had grown on their own with only one store purchase allowed to fill their stomachs. "Food Inc." will be shown again at the Sunrise on Oct. 20 and 21 with the movie "Fresh" showing Oct. 22 and 23. Our next meeting will be Oct. 15 at 6:30 at the Wine Cellar and your thouughts on the new reading material will be appreciated. I've invited Jan Liteshoe, a local friend who's wanted to join our book group and is also an organic gardner who can add much to the discussion. Happy reading and see you on the 15th.
